Mart We loved the band last night, but we were not that much into the vocalistic person we saw at the front. (Is that Euro PC?)Who cares, all I want is success for people I like!
I wish the industry was as unsnobby as me and the Fabby Chart.
zooloo Spirit - Didn't people involved all get involved in bizarre hideous accidents or something?

I don't know why but Mart's comment seemed to stir some story about the song and terrible consequences. Maybe we're both getting the same secret messages from the television.

Goodbye Tulip Drive... I think it's one of those songs that is very likeable but not remarkable. I am not having a dig a the song here, or anywhere.

It's not one of those where you can say to other people listen to the guitar, singing, etc. It's one you hear and say "I like this" and most other people do to. Everyone is surprised everyone else likes it too - I wish I could think of an example.

So, yeah - if Tulip gets heard it could do very well.
Mart Good points Al, and I must say the Medics are superb, and the singing geezer is a lovely fella, and very tall as well!
We are just off to view a band, but I do hope they don`t play "Spirit" though..(even as an encore)

Either way, another ecletic Fab Chart.
Al GoodBye Tulip Drive has qualities of Blackberry Way and Diary of Horace Wimp, but blended with originality. It's a good track. Possibly a bit uncommercial for today's mainstream market, but you never know. I like the doorbells solo.

On the Spirit In The Sky subject, Dr & The Medics had more than one hit ("Burn" did quite well), as did Gareth Gates, so that leaves only Norman Greenbaum as a one hit wonder. So it's not really a jinx. The Blind Boys of Alabama have been around long enough to not be so bothered about that anyway.

I agree about Barefoot In The Snow. Some excellent guitar play on that track.
zooloo Good for Onionsound see I can spot hits... anyone got a vacancy in A&R?

Preferred this weeks new entries, Secrets Of Happiness - Barbara Hascakova was more interesting than great. Some good touches but not a style I particularly like.

Good point about Spirit in the Sky - it does seem to be one of those "cursed" songs. Don't see that this version has really added anything.

Nice to hear something like Steven Knechtges's Barefoot in the Snow. Thoroughly enjoyable and played well, though one of those songs you only get in the FAB Chart. Very good playing.

Goodbye Tulip Drive - Eliot Corina.... I like this unashamedly retro track, but a hit? Don't know, very enjoyable melody and very nicely done lyrically.

I've certainly heard a lot worse in the official (Pah!) chart and I do like this track. I can see how it could get a great response from radio play... hmmm if it gets out among the gen pub it could do well and I hope they get the chance to find out.

No Blagg or Futon, shame, but another cool chart - thanks Fabby-people.
