JK2006 My favourite musical that I started going to London aged 11 to see dozens of times - the reason I loved it were the incredible songs, melodies by Borodin, great, clever lyrics, Stranger In Paradise, Baubles, Bangles and Beads and best of all And This Is My Beloved. Watching the dreadful film version for the first time I realise why the movie flopped; they killed it. Beloved was so magical on stage with four voices - because Sebastian Cabot couldn't sing they trimmed it in half and made it three voices, wrecking it. Still, to me, the stage version (best recorded version by Lee Venora) is one of the best stage songs ever along with Something Wonderful in The King And I.
