yeah, an upcoming single that I'm involved in is going to be download & vinyl only.
I think the collectors amongst us still really like a physical product and vinyl fits the bill nicely.
chart bottom
This Year, for singles:
7" Vinyl: 2%
12" Vinyl: 2%
CD: 12%
Downloads: 84%
So, CDs are outselling Vinyl by a factor of 3 to 1 (And that's 7" and 12" combined).

In terms of sales, last week's chart had two singles that sold just under 2000 each on vinyl, Red Hot Chili Peppers & Towers Of London both on 7'. The biggest selling 12' was Mason which sold 500 out of a weekly sales total of 12,500 interestingly dance tracks like Cascada on AATW aren't on 12" vinyl.

Vinyl is ok for promo and sending it to DJs. the problem is rather you wont make a profit, if you don

It took me some time to stop missing the 12" by 12" artwork when CDs took over
It may become increasingly useful/popular for an act to have materials that you can't download and print for free - in some ways using music to sell other thing has been creping in and taking over for some years - the single with a cutout sort of thing.
I wonder if 12" versions of CD artwork would be a seller? It would be quite weird if the album "cover" sold separately and even made a comeback.
