andrew When I mean pop music I mean modern pop group with 7 people in with no singing talent nor music talent. they cannot play instruments. it is all manafuctured crap.

Monkees were manufactured but they practised. they are now all successful solo artists and 2 two them have started new bands.

The songs that mikemacca has listed are cool pop because it is british invasion era. Abba I could live without anyway. Dooleys - my Teacher use to talk about them as my surname is Dooley but I have never heard a song by them but I'm willing to if could find one to download or something.

Alan Price I love. I did a post on the soundtrack O lucky Man which he did.

Post edited by: JK2006, at: 2006/03/08 15:42
Manager Man <<<< The fans don't even know it is a cover >>>>

That way the advertisers get out of paying any money to the original recording artistes, Andrew.
mikemacca I lean more towards folk from the 60s with Phil Ochs and Bob Dylan my real heroes, though the latter more for his words than his voice! JK's late 60s stuff is certainly amongst my favourites too before he went all "silly".
There's no crime in liking good pop music. It's now cool to Like Abba and there's no reason why you can't like the Dooleys who made some superb (Ben Findon written) pop songs. My self made compiled CDs for the long car journey keep me happy.

Here's a good example of a 20 track compilation I often play

Phil Ochs : Changes (perfect folk ,65)
Julie Felix : The magic of the playground(gorgeous ,67)
Status Quo : Pictures of matchstick men(good old days ,68)
Lotus eaters : First picture of you(lush ,84)
Alan Price Set : I put a spell on you(great version ,66)
Jonathan King (Who?) : Million dollar bash (classy, 70)
Sparks : Something for the girl with everything (mad ,74)
Longpigs : Blue skies (something recent)
The Attack : Created by Clive (an era I wish I'd lived in ,68)
Kinks : All day and all of the night (best pop song of its time ,65)
Silver Convention : Get up and boogie (strange looks by now ,76)
Eiri Thrasher : Roger (very pleasing ,71)
White Plains : My baby loves lovin' (gorgeous pop ,70)
Klaatu : Calling occupants of interplanetary craft (the original ,76)
Flirtations : Keep on searching ( how did this trio never score a huge hit? ,69)
Arrival : Friends (an acquired taste ,69)
Saint Etienne : Only love can break your heart (jolly)
Cat Stevens : A bad night ( I love backward loops and depression ,67)
Captain Sensible : Wot (I love it ,83)
Catherine Howe : Harry (lovely way to drive home late at night ,75)

Of course once this 8 cd box set comes out by oh I forget his name, that will make a 7 hour car journey just a drive of pleasure....
andrew I discover new bands almost every week. I know bands that my dad doesn't even know. Cheap Thrills and The Son of cheap thrills; good Zappa albums -
Martin K Its like... theres the intro ..next week we get to the hookline........
