Hark !
Is that the death bell that I hear ?

HMV has put 3 local record shops out of business under 2 months of opening.
It is bad for people who like to own a record shop then be closed down - the shops had been there for years.
HMV and Virgin are getting like Wal-mart - big retailers ruining small business.
I always find what I want in the independent shops; then big stores.
I wish there was something we could do.

Following the closure of MVC, then Music Zone, plus the disasterous results published last week by HMV (which resulted in their shares hitting a 4 year low !) - can there by anyone left who sees any future in High Street music retail?

I rather like Borders, but probably like most customers in the UK, I walk around and browse and buy the product I like, cheaper on Amazon.

So Borders are pulling out iof the UK, by putting their shops up for sale, according to music week.
I always thought Borders was a good business in the UK, run by ex-HMV/Waterstones exec David Roach.
It appears Borders have posted a multi-million $$$ loss, so need to concentrate their investment in the USA.
But, is anybody likely to want Book and Music stores at the moment? It's not like the market leader is doing any [profitable] business.
