JK2006 Well this is the story as the rumour goes.
Phillips was told that if/when the EMI/Warner deal goes through, Wadsworth was getting the Chairmanship (though another rumour says Tony will be next to go!).
So he decided to jump sooner rather than later.
Having already had discussions with Rob Stringer who's not at all happy with the state of Sony/BMG in the UK and would be happy to have an experienced Chairman.

But it's all only a rumour and some of us feel a parallel with rearranging the deck chairs on a certain ship which gave Sony/BMG artiste Celine Dion a global smash back in the days when singles sold.
Not in the Know Nick Phillips to head Sony / BMG ????????
