A warm reception... like a house burning down
Somebody did tip this though I rather like it (Except the string squeak)
One person who knew not of this place now does - ill wind and all that.

Different boards have different attitudes.
ROTD simply doesn't put up hype. And if something slips through it tends to regret it.
The Velvet Rope has several well paid and experienced posters who specialise in bitter and twisted and love to attack the moment a trickle of blood can be smelled in the water.
Here our philosophy is simple. We admire and encourage enthusiasm, whether it's for your work or someone else's. We believe our readers are quite capable of skipping or ignoring something if it's not for them.
We don't carry negative, nasty responses. Life's too short. But we like total honesty. "Not for me" is quite enough.
We're here to find great talent and help promote it and expose it.
The Velvet Ropers hated Orson and the fact that we found it there when they didn't. When No Tomorrow went to No1, into the year's Top Ten and won a Brit, they had paroxysms of hatred.
We rejoiced.
But there are some superb insights and opinions (Abbe Bigou is the best) and Julie Gordon gets most gossip long before others and even more so music news.
Horses for courses! And we are fond of The Velvet Rope as we copied their example when we created the Tipsheet board ten years ago.
As we are fond of ROTD because it was modelled on us and started by ex Tipsheeters.
