Confused Is there a limit on how early you can pre-order a track?

I always thought it would be a month max...

Today I saw a band touting for pre orders for their upcoming single... But the single isn't released until mid-june.

If you can't make the charts after touting for months...You're pretty much doomed!!

Anyhoo, is there a limit? Or could i launch a single for Christmas now?
