He is actually such a huge cricket fan, that he introduced his friend Paul Getty, to the game, and raised some decent money as a result.
Bill Wyman also plays, and occaisonaly on a repeat on Sky, he can be seen playing in a celebrity match , in which he bowled a hat-trick.

Mick Jagger plays cricket and loves it.

Ian Botham is still respected worldwide, for being the first cricketer to get publicly disgraced by the tabloids, and is also respected as one of the greatest cricketers ever.
He is doing very well on SkySports, and is loved by all, when he speaks his mind , all cricket fans listen.
A quick quote from him that I recall, when he was flattened by the media after getting off a plane, years later...something like..."If i was a footballer , they would have told me how to deal with this....."
I do think his retort against, and indeed FOR the cricket establishment has been fantastic.
He is a lovely feller, and even came to my old school to demonstrate batting and bowling skills.
I do not agree with them being 80`s icons, as at that time I was embarrased to tell my freinds that I was a cricket fan, it just was not conduscive to my rock and roll job.

I still think from an art director in an ad agency perspective that Ian Botham and Allan Lamb are so 1987! I know they are recognisable icons but it's time to move on surely?
