Well, I must admit, I`m still struggling on this issue!
But, I think, It was either Tracy Chapman, or Elton`s "Reg Strikes Back".
After that, it was definitely Floyds" Momentary Lapse of Reason" and Roger Waters "Radio Choas"
Notably only Tracy`s album stands the test of time, but that`s personally thinking.

My first CD (in 2/86) was London 0 Hull 6 (The Housemartins).
Great music, but I bought it because I believed the hype around DDD.
I resisted the change to CDs for some years. And I was absolutely sure that I would never buy a CD of an album I already had on vinyl ... And now I own 3 or 4 different CD versions of some records.

A lot of people bought Dire Strait's Brothers In Arms as their first CD. It was by far the biggest selling CD in the UK for a number of years.
