I don`t think anyones mentioned this, but with the seasonal inevitable job losses period underway, people are going to have to look seriously at who has a copy of what unreleased material.
It seems quite obvious but maybe being overlooked. |

Sorry to comment late on this thread as I've been away,
Siobahn Donaghy's album was leaked to Limewire and its ruined the release.
There is a lot of finger pointing going on at the label, and among the principals.
Pretty crazy for this to happen.
Her fan base already has the album for free.
I'm wondering what is going to happen with Kylie's record, in the wake of this, knowing they're expecting large numbers worldwide from her.
Terry and Miles had better be on this before it happens with this record. |

Lou, the whole "why pay for something when I can get it for free" argument is rubbish.
It is ILLEGAL to download copyrighted music freely, in the same way as it is illegal to steal a car from a showroom.
Both are, arguably "victimless" crimes, as the artists are not immediately out of pocket, and the owners of the car dealership will be covered by insurance.
BUT, it is illegal to do either, and you wouldn't just go along and steal a car on the basis that "you could get it for free" would you?
The victim here is, ultimately, the artist. The people who worked hard to write, arrange, record and release their music, only for people to come along and steal their music, leaving them severely out of pocket, but justifying it to their own thieving selves by saying "oh, well, if I can get it for free, why should I pay for it?"
I work with several musicians, all of which are very talented and endlessly hard-working guys & girls, all of which have released excellent records in the last four years, and all of which are either broke to some extent or in debt. Being a creative musician is a thankless enough task as it is, without it being made all the harder by people coming along and nicking the music that they slave to create and release, just because "they can".
This whole thing makes me very angry indeed. |

Thank you Big End your generosity has almost moved me to tears. And you have cured me of all my inner demons.
Oh I forgot to tell you I won the lottery five years ago:P |
