Green Man I was never the one for hits, 45's/12 inch, maxi singles Robbie; apart from Genesis just for the non album B-sides songs. I do have Match Of The Day EP, the 2 singles CD's from Calling All Stations. The singles should of been on the album they are great songs...the album needs it to be re-released with bonus tracks

I have always been an album guy and always will be.

Another band I liked in the 80's was Alabama, they were massive when I was in the States in the 80's. I didn't rush for the radio friendly 45's...I rushed for the LP's and the VHS tapes.

I do wish HMV had the listening booths again.

Nik Kershaw...now there's a songwriting talent.

Very much so, I saw him on package concert with Go West and Carol Decker. When Nik came on the women were still swooning and screaming. He looked perplex by it, he his now a silver fox as the women say.

He had string of hits but made a fortune with 4 of them. He still writes no material, I love to see him live if he came locally; he is super talented.

It's mad how his songs sounds so simple but they are structured like classical music.

Yeah, and liked most of his contemporaries no hits for 30+ years. The last hit he had was "The one and only" for Chesney Hawkes, His last solo hit was probably the Riddle in the mid-80s.

I think the women were screaming with a sense of irony for the pint-sized balding singer. He's still writing new material, that is great for him, but virtually no one is interested, because he ran out of decent tunes decades ago.
MCR Plenty of good music around but it's not really in the mainstream.
It's all the crappy chart stuff which has no tune at all.
It's like in the last decade it's all dumbed down.
The 00s wasn't too bad but as the 10s went down it's all gone downhill a bit.

I blame Tik Tok/Social Media/Streaming
