In this article there is a prediction that by the end of this year 20 per cent of all music sales will be made digitally.
Maybe 20 per cent of single sales but not of ALL music sales.

Morrissey sold 5,500 "but under 50 of those were downloads".

Hi Jonathan,
I would hazard a guess that Morrissey would have sold a ton more downloads than just 50 - so long as he is with iTunes and the other big shakers in the download business.
Most download sales aren't yet included in the chart makeup - this is changing
and I would imagine that within 6 months it will be all important because
CD singles will have largly been eradicated from the charts as the public continue to move to online music purchasing.
Singles are the big winners in the pay download music business and iTunes
have sold over a billion tracks to date.
current sales are 3 million plus per day.
Regards,
David.

We might have used that idea as a hype down here, but I couldnt possibly comment.....

Is it true that Morrissey - at 2 - has sold less than 50 downloads?
Is it true that HMV returns are not yet included in the midweeks?
Is it true that the majority of download retailers don't yet have their sales included?
