Robbie Williams had all the snatch and drugs money could buy, not to mention world travel, fancy hotels and cars.
Their manager probably told his bands that anyone could replace them.
Boy bands were formed to make money for the fat cats and themselves. Most young pop stars probably made a ton of money but didn't look after their income and now blame others. You are only relevant as your current hit. I never liked McFly or Busted, but they are still touring strong and even toured as a supergroup.
Many bands record new material, but these songs are only available to buy on CD at the concerts and released on their own record labels. It's a smart money-maker for them.
Interesting documentary on the trials and tribulations of boybands and what makes them successfull or otherwise. The documentary series starts off with Take That, although there would have been lots of boy bands before them, such as Big Fun, The London Boys to name but two. Robbie Williams does his usual poor me act, claiming he wasn't loved by his manager Nigel Martyn-Smith.
