Give away cds at gigs in the breaking through division, is actually getting very popular and welcomed.
I also really like the idea being used by Hard Fi etc of pre-selling a recording of the live gig you are about to see via the website, all good hands on stuff.
I must admit I was racking my brains on the Fame Academy thing and I`m pretty sure I was the only culprit who worked with any of them.(2 in fact, I remember no names)
One of the greatest improvements , entertainment wise, to be witnessed this year is the fast turnover of bands on multi billed gigs and, not before time too.
I can`t encourage people more to get out and see whats about, its a pretty cool time for it. |

Go on? Actually, I wish you would. The 50/50 deal less expenses is exactly what I give my small stable of acts and I like the "give away" incentives. Do you do everything yourself or hire people in? |

whilst not one to question anyone's memory, fame academy does not sound like me and i can't remember anyone on there i thought backable. I have landed 3 deals with major labels and publishers in the last 12 months tho.
If it is answers you want, well;
bands should stop expecting or accepting advances and concentrate on getting paid properly, ie, for their art. This isn't renaissance Italy with patrons anymore.
With every album give two live ticket vouchers, or, give the album AWAY to anone who buys 4 tickets.
PLAY MORE GIGS!! don't complain about e-bay when you are creating the shortage. A week at Wembley/Brixton/Hammersmith is cost effective, one night is not.If you are any good and you play,they will come. Stop mailing out tickets, have a ticket outlet at the venue as they do in cinemas, touting will stop overnight.
scrap the charts, meaningless, outdated, non-reflective. They were only ever a marketing tool and have served their purpose. Think of the list of great artists that never got to number one and the shit that did.
scrap packaging and breakages clauses from contracts. Labels, You have been rumbled.
a deal should be a partnership, 50-50 after costs,artists should not contribute to the running costs/poor signings/bad management of a label.
I could go on, but probably won't |

Me? Hit the big time? Nah! Make music and do it all yourself? Yes. So what are you doing? Still trying to get some no hoper from Fame Academy to sell records? For fucks sake, that was never going to fly! |

Indeed a slag off is better than no reaction any day, otherwise its pointless giving an opinion. |
