An Email-out is so much less hassle than burning, printing, licking and posting. I would wager there's 10 times more saturation on the web. You've also got to remember how much easier it is to create music these days.

The web is purely a replacement for tapes in jiffy bags and a quicker way of posting press releases and news.(+ its easier to make an attractive package than in a mail out)

Ain't that the truth. It's even harder now that the web is over saturated with "musicians". Let me pose this question to the board. What is an effective way anymore for a songwriter/musician to be "heard" without getting lost in the shuffle?

pitch your material to smaller labels and publishers...those who will listen and give you feedback that will help you move forward and develop your craft. Only the determined and talented willing to graft succeed and it's a long road my friend.
