What utter crap, it was far more credible. At least it was voted for by the general public and had a Eurovision feel, by going round the UK regions. Rather than half of the awards being chosen by a committee. Is that really the reason he gave?
I think the only 9 million ratings ITV get are for Coronation Street. 6.1 million is good, but no better than Ashes to Ashes.
I did love the Sun's review of the Brits, having a pop at the Arctic Monkeys behaviour, quite laughable by their standards. |

We got 9 million for our Record of the Day shows - cancelled by dear Guy Freeman because he decided it wasn't credible enough. |

the overnights reveal 6.1 million viewers which is excellent and will delight ITV , the BPI and Ged Doherty.
The TV audience, fired up by everyone with a vested interest from bookmakers to industry pundits was lead to believe they would get to see 'car -crash' television with the most frightful and disfunctional family since the Munsters, the ghastly Osbournes presiding over a series of unplanned disasters. Never happened of course , not least because Ozzy was muzzled in favour of his shrieking harridan of a wife. The very 'POP' content was perfect for the ITV audience, with MIKA, LEONA , KYLIE and Rhianna all fulfilling the audience demographic perfectly. Not a vintage year , but then 2007 wasn't a vintage year so no surprises. |

I had a good time, but do agree with may of the comments here. The sound wasn't great overall and there were obviously monitor problems. Nice pie though! |

Unfortunately it was as predicted, a totally average affair, with no thought or imagination.
The awards were mostly predictable, apart from Kate Nash and Arctic Monkeys winning. Only highlights were Dave Grohl's comments and the Arctic Monkeys piss-taking, which even then got cut by ITV.
I concur about Mark Ronson, he has done a covers album and has won Best Male, yet does not sing on any of his tracks.
Time for a complete re-think on how to do the Brits awards ceremony. The NME awards are far more entertaining.
It's beginnning to turn into Sports Personality of the Year, an event that got very lazy in it's concept.
One comment was that the Osbournes weren't that bad hosting the event.
If it's the same next year, then I will turn off. |
