Talking of John Cooper Clarke, I found it very interesting that he played himself in the Joy Division movie.

I've yet to hear anything musical that I like, but he's very entertaining.
The vocal skills of John Cooper-Clarke coupled with adventurous music

His version of "Jerusalem" is superb.
The thing about the Fall which people seem to not get, is the records are made with a sheer rush of adrenaline and then, even more strangely, the live shows are extremely tight versions of the same music.
I love them, they are the message board of music, mere off the cuff thought, a recording and an interesting track every time.
That said, Jo Whileys` after-show Brit Awards interview with Mark about 10 years back confused the situation further.
If Mark E Smith was dead, I feel that people might have more understanding of what he represents.
The fact that he seems to be one of those rare immortal souls, adds to his mystery.

on the cover of G2.
What a strange man.
I remember having many long conversations about him with John Peel, who adored him.
I could never understand the appeal.
