Seven out of ten - not bad Anthony - but how come you missed Latvia?

And my friend's Icelandic entry?

The 2nd ten finalists... Iceland, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, Portugal, Denmark, Georgia, Croatia, Albania, and Latvia.

Ah well, JK, I don't know how Latvia came across on TV last night, but it had been leaving something to be desired previously, and I thought there might not be enough youngsters to get it through on a school night.

As for Iceland, they have been unlucky on so many occasions, and I thought they might be undeservedly left out again from first in the draw. I'm delighted for Pete and the Icelandic delegation, who are a nice crew, and gave a wonderful party.

It was a very difficult contest to call. A few of us seasoned Eurovision hacks traditionally meet up for a meal prior to the semi finals, throw some money into the pot and do our predictions. Sixteen of us this time, and I came joint first with ten others with my modest 7/10. An unprecedented low winning score.

Rehearsals for the final start in two hours, making it difficult for last night's qualifiers, having expended so much adrenalin only last night.

I think the new format has produced a fairly strong final. Russia is clearly the one to beat, but I still think there could be a surprise, maybe from Portugal, or Bosnia.

Anthony Where am I? Oh yes, still at the Eurovision. Tonight's semi final is a more interesting affair than the first, and much harder to call.

My favourite song of all 43 is Switzerland, but Paolo Meneguzzi has given a string of poor performances and unless he pulls something out of the bag on the night, then he may as well book his taxi to the airport now. Iceland is a favourite amongst the fans, but although you may believe that out and out Europop is ideal for Eurovision, history does not prove this to be the case.

The main girl singer from the Latvian pirates had a major and long lasting costume malfunction during this afternoon's rehearsal, and I feel she may need to get them out again tonight if they are to qualify.

Portugal was again fantastic, and I will be gutted and outraged if they fail to qualify.

So to my predictions, which are essentially little more than guesses. I just kept my reputation in tact with 8/10 last time, but this could all go horribly wrong:-

Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, Belarus, Croatia, Bulgaria, Denmark, Georgia (please let me be wrong), Macedonia and Portugal.
