Walter Sobchak Interesting thread. The new Neil Diamond album is forgive the pun , 'pretty amazing', with the title track track Home before Dark just outstanding. The Osmonds were entertaining in their own cheesy way. The show was one J Ross's better efforts because he allowed his guests to speak for once and kept the smut to a minimum. As for Ray Winstone, he's a just a diamond geezer, and the latest Indy film is not half as bad as some critics would have you believe.
Dominic Dee I watched Neil's concert on BBCi and wasn't impressed, but I listened to samples of his tracks on Amazon and decided to buy his CD. He's much better in the studio. Pretty Amazing Grace is a cool track.
Pete Clarke Yes,although Neil is a great musician he is very dull.

I was disappointed with his performance of Amazing Grace. The arrangement and performance had 'Vegas' written all over it.

I was going to buy his new LP, but after seeing him on Ross I'm not so sure...
JK2006 On the other hand Neil Diamond - brilliant songwriter and singer (though I'm not keen on his new stuff) was terribly boring on the same show.
JK2006 Check out my interview 20 years ago with Jimmy on Entertainment USA on You Tube.

A delightful young man. All the family are good people.

Bizarre to think I was around before they were.
