In the case of Jet Boy many were probably relieved that the lyric was changed!
Never knew "Plastic" played drums on it though.

In the case of "Ca plane..." no one's complaining, the original was a hit in the US and the version has generated 100 times the revenue at least and keeps getting re-released - damn the thing. It was basically the same group of people, as Plastic Bertrand played the drums on "Jet Boy...".

One of the most amazing radio moments I have ever heard was abroad in which they played the whole of Tenacious D`s "++++ her Gently" with no bleeps.
When you consider the lyrics of "Jet Boy Jet girl", which later became "Ca Plane Pour Moi", one is left staggered by how much may be lost in translation!
Scary stuff.

Oh I've been the great specialist in acquiring Euro songs Mart and often doing the British lyric.
Michel Delpech loved my lyric for his Flirt and I think my words for his When I Was A Star are very effective, even today.

In all my years of writing, it had never once dawned on me to write an English lyric to a hit I hear on holiday, but then it is not always required. Joe Le Taxi would have translated very badly and lost it`s charms.
I find it fascinating what Michael does and I genuinely believe that our next Eurovision entry should not be sung in English.
