Er, this is only the 2nd single release track of theirs that's based on something else. Don't see how it's a habit of theirs. It is crap, though.

Sounds a mess. I used to love them but they sound a bit tired these days. Ernie's original is far better.

The S/Babes do intrigue me though. They have made the simple childlike habit of singing a different song over one of your favourite records into hits. A trend that also applies to early rap records.
However, a splendid act they are, but I think a backlash will occur against this one day, and it may just be around the corner.
What is interesting further in the marketing of the girls, is how they use nostalgia as a marketing tool instead of just using the same, or similar chords, the same records are actually used.
There are only so many chord progressions on the planet to the western ear that can make a hit and the honesty is to be applauded.
What is slightly wrong with this record for me though, is although it is technically old (the backing track) it is rather too fresh in everyone`s minds from it`s last airing.
It`s the S/babes, so it will be a hit, if it was a new band called the "&*%$)Girls", for example, a lesson may be taught that, you can be forgiven for being 10 years out of date, but not 6 months.

Oh dear! The original version was ok, but this is an awfully poor remake. Very tacky. I'm sure they could find a good new song to sing, if they tried.
