I don't think Lloyd Webber is a good choice at all but what winds me up most about this is the way it's being done. I hated those two series hosted by Graham Norton searching for cast members for Webber productions. I was violently opposed to them... why were the BBC giving Webber endless free publicity for productions he could cast with an unknown winner who I'm sure could be paid less than a more experienced one? A month or so ago, I cheered when Webber said they wouldn't do another one next year... and now we know why.

Turning the Song For Europe into a drossy TV show with that particular format is a lousy idea and I think it's wrong that TV Licence payers will be giving Lloyd Webber pocket money for this when he has more money than anyone could ever imagine. The way the BBC are acting and treating all of this, breaking the rules and denying everyone the right to submit an entry...

I think the time has come for me to boycott not just the Eurovision but the TV Licence as well. I'm sick of my money being squandered on endless bad TV and going into the pockets of over paid people.[/quote]

Mart	Yes but the most horrific thing Zooloo, is that I fear not only will the competing contestants have to battle it out, but inevitably have to battle out their every move in a Big Brother style house again. Now, this of course will be just after Christmas when the pains of X Factor and their obvious December number 1, would normally become ripples in a pool and fading away and sadly, it looks like another one will then start for the Eurovision "battle". Had the contest been in the UK next year, I would have a completely different view on this, all I can see from what they appear to be planning here is more people humiliation in the name of entertaining the public.
zooloo	Although I don't like the X_Factor thing the idea of broadening EV out to include the public isn't such a bad idea. I have no other suggestion on how to get people to engage (re-engage?) with it. ...oh ...except enter a very good song But trying to give a tired format a new lease of life by using another tired format... hmmmm... dunno
