JK2006	This time nobody votes on the song; Andrew and Diane write it and that's it.
JC	I caught about 30 seconds of an excrutiatingly awful solo male singer on the last edition of this show. No idea if he was a contestant or a guest, but I escaped to another channel fairly quickly. I can understand the desire to include the public in the decision making, but I'd have favoured a show where independent singers and songwriters submitted their material to an offscreen panel capable of weeding out the rubbish and sending maybe 20 quality songs into three TV shows - two semi finals with the top five from each going into the final, the public voting at each stage. We have some very good songwriting talent out there. I'm not sure how the actual song is going to be picked for the ESC. Do the public vote on the song or just the singer?
JK2006	Yes Mike; I've always aid you could make a hit out of a sow's ear of a performer. I could even put Andrew at No1 with a hit song. Having said that, neither Andrew nor I have written a hit in years. Which was why I didn't write any entries myself but searched for hits by others - like Just A Little Bit. Also, I then found I needed a strong performer which Katrina was. I actually think The Twins are a disaster but either Jade or Mark could be adapted to give a hit performance. I personally think I'm still writing hit songs (try What's A Girl To Do? from the movie or several of the others) but I clearly cannot any longer turn them into hits. Neither can most others.
mikemacca	question JK ? If you were choosing the singer... Would any of those 3 pass an audition for your selection ?
Anthony	Interesting that Jade had to be saved by ALW last night. Maybe we were wrong in thinking it is all done and dusted. We will have to see if the BBC manipulates the viewers into voting for her next week. In fairness, the artistes left in are not too bad. They all have something to commend them, but do they have what it takes to succeed at an international song festival? I very much doubt it.
