It was just last summer when I saw the band live who looked so well on stage, who ever thought he suffered 3 year bout.

just in case people don't know that Dave's real surname wasn't Dee.
Sad to hear the news. My thoughts are with his family and others who were close to him.

Great to hear Dee received a full page tribute but it is insulting that Ken Howard and Alan Blakely were not mentioned. You're absolutely right - they were the "brains" behind the group from the very earliest days when thanks to writing "Have I The Right" for The Honeycombs (you can hear where the early DDDBMT hits came from!), they got the band an audition with Joe Meek. Meek and the band failed to get on!
I also think producer Steve Rowland was just as important too... those singles sounded and still sound great. That team of Howard, Blakely and Rowland contributed enormously to the success of DDDBMT so most annoying they get ignored at this time. Still, at least WE remember them here!

Full page tribute in the Mail today but strangely no mention for Ken Howard and Alan Blakely who I thought were the power behind the band (and the Herd - and they wrote the fabulous Miss Marple TV theme).
I was looking up Ken and Alan only last week on Google. They are behind a strange classical acapella group.

When I was a child, one summer holiday we stayed in a guest house near to a theatre where DDDMT were playing and we could hear their entire show. Unfortunately I never got to see them.
