Funnily enough, although I loved Viva La Vida, I thought the best music last year came from the States - Akon, Ne-Yo, Rihanna and especially Beyonce's If I Were A Boy (written by a Yank lady - BC Jean).

Yes well done Brits. I can't understand how Viva La Vida didn't win record of the year, beat out by a song I've never heard. Although the Plant/Krauss song is good, the category is for a record that is just everywhere, which Viva was.
I wasn't at the show, but saw the tape. Some really bad performances and some inspiring ones. NARAS is just trying to be all things to all people and it just doesn't work. Same as it ever was.
Duo from Nashville called Sugarland ...best performance of the night, real talent, you could hear a pin drop. Kid Rock...solid, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson...very good. The Jonas Bros with Stevie Wonder was a miscalculated embarrassment. AND of course the voting in general as wacked out as ever. Glad for all the Brits though.
Carrie Underwood's young female guitarist, Orianthi from Australia may have stolen the show. AND wouldn't you know she is signed to 19 as well.

Radiohead's performance was just magical.

Well done Brits - Coldplay especially (Viva La Vida was one of my 5 favourite tracks of 2008) - Adele, Duffy, Robert Plant...
