It won't look any different on the night. The results will be combined and announced in the normal 1-12 points format. I don't expect we'll ever get to see the separate results of the juries and phone votes. There has always remained a jury vote from every country, in the case of telephony problems, and very few of them have ever become public.

What will be interesting is seeing how well the "jury" qualifier then does in the final e.g. Sweden finished 12th in their semi last year but were the highest placed jury song after the Top 9 through televotes. Swedish TV claim it finished 3rd in the semi under jury votes, which is believable.

I have always believed most juries vote very differently when it enables you to markdown a song you dislike, whereas televoting doesn't , unless you decide to make 24 phone calls for different songs.
A good example of this is how few points Switzerland and Austria always gave Germany under juries. This cost Germany the 1981 contest.

The Cat I don't think it's limited to poverty. A lot of great songs, poetry and literature are inspired by life's hardships, extreme emotions and experiences.
elk being sad is not a crime, well not yet
sounds like they are making the voting system more complicated than is necessary,
on the other hand it will be interesting to compare jury votes with public votes
it might be another strictly come dancing voting fiasco
and lead to another balkan war

is it true that the voting system is being changed for 2009 ?

The semi finals will be decided in the same way as last year, i.e. nine out of ten songs chosen by televoting, and a wildcard jury entry.

The votes for the final will be a blend (probably 50-50) of televotes and juries. As it stands, each jury consists of four members of the public and four music professionals. Only one professional jury member may be connected with a record company or music publisher. Changes to this may be announced after a meeting on the 16th/17th March. I'm sure I heard somewhere that the juries will be wholly professional.

Is anyone still awake? I am quite sad.
