Incredibly touching video - all praise to Jane Birkin for highlighting this appalling regime.
It makes one realise how lucky we are to live in a 'Free' society, however impaired it may be !!

I saw the legendary Jane Birkin last night at the Barbican. She did a mix of songs Serge Gainsbourg wrote for her and her own songs since his death, and this one stood out for me.....
It was a moving song (in English) from her recent album "Enfants d'Hiver", an angry song in support of Burmese dissident Aung San Suu Chi, who has been under house arrest for lord knows how many years.
Birkin complained that she had wanted to have a poster of the woman with her on stage, but that the Barbican would not allow it.
At the end of the song, in the silence between the end of the music and the applause, I instinctively shouted "bravo!" before feeling very self-conscious. Ms B looked at me, a very seriousl look on her face and tears in her eyes and mouthed "merci"
not a video for the faint-hearted but very moving.
