There does seem to be a distinct late 60s / early 70s feel to the Fab chart. Pity the same can't be said of the official chart which tends to go from mediocre to mediocre.
The Cat
Highest new entry comes from young Quinn Sullivan with 'Summer of Love'. Personally I think the world could benefit from another Summer of Love - and Peace. This song has a good feel to it. He's way too young to have experienced the original, but maybe he's a sign that the new generation are ready for a revival.
Add to Quinn the fact that Barry McGuire is the new Number One with 'Eve of Destruction'. Plus, T Rex and John Peel are still moving slowly up the bottom ten.
I do really like 'Springtime with the Mullen Sisters' from Tex Nihilo at 19. It's joyfully weird and has an air of freedom and freshness.
Mark Alexander at 14, and Tony Miller at 16, both have good songs, but neither strike me the same way as do the others. Well worth checking out though.
Decent climb for the Rah Band, so maybe 'The Crunch' is not over yet.
All we need now is a Trip to Frisco and some flowers for our hair, and we'll be feeling cool all over.
