Curiously enough, I have been contacted by a car manufacturer and a parts manufacturer in the same week about doing some work. Not everyone is on skid row.
Agreed. My business has not been affected. Having gone around the local shopping centre, it was hardly quiet. Bustling with people carrying bags of shopping. House prices are on the rise too round here. Recession my arse.

I tend to think the situation is over exaggerated, but I guess the authorities feel the need to err on the side of caution. Better to face a false alarm and live than to be caught unawares and die.
I haven't noticed any other stories being buried beneath this one. Something has to take the main headlines. Today it's been all about reminding us of how we helped "Liberate" Iraq. Thankfully we are now pulling out. The economy still gets reported, but there's not much new on that front - just more of the same.
If this flu story encourages people to cough or sneeze into a tissue then it's a good thing, regardless of whether there is threat of serious epidemic. They should re-show the Tony Hancock blood donor clip where he sings the coughs and sneezes song.
So far only people who've been to Mexico have got the serious side of this flu. There is no sign of it being passed on to other people back home. They keep stressing this, and so the reporters are keeping a sense of balance.

The story is in MEXICO - our media are trying to hide the following things :
1. House prices fell again last month. The market is crashing.
2. Brown has lost a commons vote yesterday - his first and today has had to cancel a vote because he was going to lose again. He may be forced to resign - other Prime Ministers were after losing such votes.
3. Chrysler Motors has gone under. A massive casualty and leading to hundreds of thousands of job losses around the G8.
4. The banks in USA are facing collapse again. The stress test shows some of them are barely functioning. If they go under then it will be another Lehman but this time taking Billions of Fed money with it.
The Swine Flu is a mild disease and is easily treatable in its current strain. It is in fact less dangerous than Seasonal Flu.
The media have jumped all over this fearing a World Economic Collapse. They have almost created this story out of nothing in order to divert the people of the World away from the real issues and problems.
We face as a Country total bankruptacy in the next few months as Capitalism crashes around our ears. The Fat Lady is not singing but is tuning up...........
The Bear Rally in stocks whilst everything is crashing is the death rattle of the markets - a last gasp of throwing money around in order to sell at the highest point before the big crash. History shows us this and the markets have become disconnected from the real world in the last few weeks. General Motors shareholders who only a month ago owned the whole company now will own 1% of the new slimmed down company if it survives......the share market is now almost meaningless.
The crazy people talking about Green Shoots are totaly deluding themselves in order to try and get some action into their companies or shares as they tank. They are trying to talk up the situation. The problem is that on the ground in the real world the evidence of closure is all around us - more companies and retail units go under every day. In massive numbers - and the same is happening all round the World now.
If you have shares then now is a good time to cash in before the crash happens. Turn cash into real things that you need. Food - land - water supplies etc. If you have property you dont need then sell it at a discount now before it becomes worthless.
The Swine Flu is the final warning. It says that the Governments have lost control of the situation - hence even Brown is no longer offering to save the World.

And you know what? They would all be better off (and circulations and ratings would rise) if they concentrated on rooting out corruption and finding out why thousands of innocent people are in jail wasting millions of pounds better spent in reviving the economy.
