I've never understood why a radio station would target an age group. Each age group is made up of so many different tastes across the genres. It's a nonsense to say that all 18 - 30 year olds like the same music. That's never been the case. Some even have the idea that employing young people makes the station more appealing or relevant to a young audience, which is a myth.
Good quality music and presentation is what counts. Is it pure coincidence that Radio One stopped being the top station once it had abandoned it's former ideals and limited itself to a "target audience"?

Yes please Angel; I'd still be listening instead of Radio Two!
OK I'm not the "target audience" but it's a shame.

I'm delighted that they're dropping the insufferable Edith Bowman. She is nothing more than repetitive. "beautiful tune, amazing" etc etc. As for Whiley, she is getting on a bit and its a sad fact but age is an issue. I'd think that most listeners need change. Can you imagine if we still had the Smashy and Nicey Jocks from yesteryear?

Quality will always find an audience, and this cuts right across the age groups.
Do many people actually listen to Radio One these days - compared to in the 70s and 80s when the presenters were household names?

Poor old Jo; ageism strikes again.
Mr Parfitt; connecting with your audience is down to ability not age, race, skin colour, sexual preferences or gender.
