giles2008 South African music is an odd beast. On one hand youve got the black tribal type acts such as Ladysmith Black Mumbazo and the Soweto Gospel Choir and the AfriSka of The Rudimentals and there is also this odd little music scene based around the Afrikaaners. Boerkies music. This is like Country and Western meets Europop and some of it is really great. This lot includes Kurt Darren and Fredi Nest. Theres also a few more serious acts like Just Jinger, Arno Carstens(from the Springbok Nude Girls), The Parlotones and (the best of the lot as far as im concerned )Karen Zoid. Flash Republic have a great name but lack a little something in the production side of things. They do however have an opportunity for a wider audience when the World Cup is on so we might hear more of them. Who knows?
Michael Reminds me of Les Rita Mitsuoko. Fun. I listened to "Twister" and "Shut It". Sounds terrible on YouTube. Are they better mixed in reality?
giles2008 Interesting dance/pop crossover.What does everybody think?
