That's still largely true for the vast majority of the bands and songwriters out there (I've been dealing with an awful lot of comments and requests since I did a piece on writers block). But what has changed is that the industry has lost 50% revenue over the past 10 years, and as the situation currently stands, music has become an expensive hobby for more people than before. The ceiling has been lowered considerably. Even the labels that have been created over the past 5-7 years have lower expectations than only 10-15 years ago; they are happy with the crumbs that are left. Personally, I think the P2P services should be licensed rather than penalised. But I have yet to see a P2P network offer to buy a licence.

SW So easy to say when you're as loaded as you are, JK.

Don't contribute towards dimishing the rights of artists/songwriters. Very foolish.
