david I only heard of her by accident myself, 20 years ago.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes_Sosa

and

Emma Bee I'm not sure that I've heard of her. I shall have to google her.
david Bob Marley is a nice comparison.
Michael Nice. I can't think of a singer that has meant so much to people at that level, with the exception of perhaps Bob Marley.

david Have you ever been in the presence of a truly great human being? You can tell instantly if you are.

I realise that there was already a posting about the death of Mercedes Sosa, but hey! here's another

I met her by accident, waiting outside the Olympia Theatre in Paris with what I thought were a few fans....

The stage door opened and someone said "come in" so I did with the others, who were actually here extended family, tho I didn't realise it lol

She quickly found out I was just a fan but was so kind and gentle and didn't mind.

There is something about truly great people that you can just feel when you meet them. This little lady who was so kind to me had stood up alone against a military dictatorship. All on her own.

Sorry I am still emotional about this lady's passing.

Adiós,Mercedes Sosa, La Negra.
