I think you're on the wrong forum again, BR.
The constituencies are supposed to have been redrawn for this election to make the number of voters in each one fairly equal. However, on the BBC election coverage it was revealed that the electoral list of 2001 was used as a guide and so the numbers were all wrong. Very sloppy administration all round. |

Remember 2005 these were the votes PER SEAT PER PARTY ( no wonder the LIBS are angry )
All figures relate to 2005 general election)
Conservatives polled 8,781,932 votes winning 210 seats =
41,819 votes per seat
Labour polled 9,570,458 votes winning 349 seats =
27,423 votes per seat
Liberal Democrats polled 5,981,509 winning 62 seats =
96,476 votes per seat
ELECTORAL REFORM is need NOT PR. Lets make each seat worth around 30 - 45,000 votes. That will make the whole system fair.
At the moment the Liberals could get 10 million votes and Labour 5 million and the Libs would still not be the biggest party. Ridiculous/ |
