Yes in many ways it was unfortunate my direct involvement with the industry ended so early. EMI would be doing great today, for a start, with me at the top, and Rupert Perry and Paul Conroy underneath me. Likewise music shops - adapted as TV advertised franchises. And my idea, after helming The Brits - a Great British Music Weekend once a year in most huge cities around the world, with MTV carrying the entire concerts and The Brits including 3 minute excerpts (as we did in 1991) - spreading the word about British sounds with a massive lineup of Brit acts that were in the area at very low ticket prices (£10)...
Oh well, as they say in Rocky Horror - "If and only... such short little words..."

They should do an LA event and not just because the Royals may be in the States. Many times the Brits and the Grammys and the many activities that surround them are held too close together for people that would attend both but can't for scheduling reasons. Brilliant idea .....even more brilliant perhaps would be to put you in charge of it JK.

Brilliant idea for BAFTA to put together a Wills&Kate/Hollywood evening in Los Angeles - why didn't the stupid, dim, gormless BPI do a similar event for the British Music Industry?
I blame much of the demise of our music business to the inefficiency of the BPI.
Give 'em a gong!
