robbiex He was a great character, one of a kind. Did lots of work for charity and was always interesting. I grew up with "Jim'll fix-it", which has stayed in my memory all these years later.
Chris Retro Here's Jimmy at his sharp best - introducing JK on TOTP, 29th January 1970. I have the whole show on dvd and it both truly 'of it's time' (in the best possible way) and a masterclass in dynamic presentation

Here's also the late Benny Hill in the finest (and least hammy) impression of Jimmy I have ever seen

JK2006 My personal memory was a day my brother and I spent with him at Stoke Mandeville hospital; you would not believe the love given to him by the patients and the kindness he provided for so many. Jim was a truly decent human being.
Prunella Minge How sad. He seemed such a force of nature I thought he'd just go on and on. Undeniably odd, but he did so many decent things. The memory that abides for me is when I saw him in action in a BBC radio studio - he had incredible technical competance and amazing timing. Underneath all the showbizzy dazzle he was a truly superb pro as a broadcaster.
