But let's not forget - his clothes sense was even worse than mine! |

Gus was one of the mentors in a now-forgotten Saturday evening BBC show, "Get Your Act Together", presented by Ronan Keating in 1999. Very much a precursor to The Voice & X-Factor, and even pre-dating Pop Idol/Pop Stars, it saw singers and bands mentored by musicbiz professionals, and coached in everything from songwriting to image and live performance. IIRC, Gus was the mentor for eventual winners Marlo, though the band (a proto-McFly) never got anywhere, and the series itself was a flop, but Gus himself came across very well, a real enthusiast, and, as you'd expect, incredibly knowledgable. |

Goodness me; I'm SO old I first met him when he was that junior Decca engineer. And I go back to the days of the BPI just being founded (and lecturing them as a know-it-all 20 year old).
Remember - I started as a PRODUCER in 1965 (It's Good News Week) and, with my heroes being Spector, Meek, Crewe, Barri, Berns - still enjoy that more than any other activity. |

Gus is always very much well remembered by the Producers Guild which he help found (The MPG). Many of his contemporaries are still active in the guild much to the benefit of the next generation of which I would include myself.
10 years...God does time fly. Never had the chance to meet Gus, but have heard all the stories from many in the room. |

And of course a great Decca recording engineer before turning to producing. |
