Fair enough but Alex Day already has a massive fan base so the results are what you would expect.
What we are all interested in is a way to break a new act/song/hit from ground zero without major label
clout at radio, without spending lots of money and without piggy backing on an existing fanbase and I don't
mean this in a rude way. That is the challenge. I guess Rebecca Black did it but if I recall at the time you
weren't exactly jumping for joy over that 'hit'. Perhaps after experiencing it with Alex Day your opinion
may be different. Don't get me wrong Alex is doing well and the word is spreading but he has not got anywhere
close to being a major act. He may do in time and well done to him if he does. |

Again we're talking at cross purposes here J&B; when I say "new model" I mean creating and promoting and selling music in a new way. Yes the majors will be doing the same and with greater success as they also have the old model (no need to throw one away)... but the new model in my vocabulary is managing to break and establish music without the forces of big money and corporate contacts.
Nobody has got it right yet but with Alex we're getting there, slowly but surely, and eventually just may be in a place to construct a better organisation to reach the global audience efficiently. That's what is currently missing in publishing, labels, companies, radio, TV and press and it needs to develop to create a new structure of retail, concert promoters and all the other levels that our industry nurtures. |

With all due respect JK you are not really doing anything groundbreaking here
All you are doing is leveraging Alex's huge fanbase which he BUILT himself outside of the music industry and
releasing videos to suit. Which is fine but the major artists are doing the same thing and
have similar and better figures than Alex. Your constant gloating and boastings are reducing
Alex's credibility. Just post his videos and quit the 'them' and 'us' attitude.
To put this into context Jenna Marbles www.youtube.com/user/JennaMarbles?feature=watch
has half a billion video views and routinely gets millions of views. Impressive no doubt and she
is one of Youtube's big stars as is Alex. If you can take someone with ZERO fans and turn them
into an Alex then you are doing the NEW MODEL. Anything other than that is pretty much old model
methods, (as impressive as the are). |

Catchy and melodic tunes to date but his Mockney accent is somewhat irritating. But I guess I'm not the demographic he's aiming at. |
