JK2006 I'm impressed by the way they are publicly pushing this... was there a "cover up"? Because if the letters from Surrey Police are genuine, there was corruption and cover up in their force. If, on the other hand, those letters are found to be forgeries, they open a whole new can of worms. Who forged them and why? Were they higher up cops or were they criminals trying to conceal their false witness?
steveimp The hypocrisy of the press astounds over this.

They go on about 'protecting kids' yet are also supportive of a certain couple who left their small children in an unlocked room whilst they went out on the piss, in a foreign country.
Well Mannered Serious crimes.

1: Sex Abuse for lust.

2: False Allegations lies for Money (media fat-fees & compo culture), or Malice.
hedda extraordinary.

I have always thought that every aspect of this scandal- real or imagined- must be investigated rather than the appalling scenario that has been driven by a relentless media devoid of facts and heavy on sensation.

I was particularly incensed by the one labelled 'witchfinder' and his horrible false accusation that Ms Raccoon (and JK) were 'child abuse supporters'. A cowardly and shameful false accusation.

amazed at Ms Raccoon's integrity. And her superb writing.

We are, of course, 100% behind the attempts by police to get to the bottom of this.
We are also 100% in favour of righting past wrongs and, if there has been abuse, exposing those perpetrators.

We admire their willingness to condemn past officers who may have been paid off to suffocate the facts.

But equally, if the horrid crime of false allegations has taken place, deliberately or accidentally, they must discover, root out and expose that too. If their predecessors have acted correctly - even though it may not be such a "good story" - they should support them, even if they are now dead or retired. If people have deliberately broken the law in order to make money, get sympathy or build careers - or construct "great stories" - they too must be exposed and punished accordingly. If twisting the truth and making fake claims has taken place, Surrey Police have told us they want to solve this crime and punish the perpetrators. If the BBC were right to shelve the Newsnight story because it reeked of subterfuge, the police must tell us.

Both abusing children and bearing false witness are hard to prove or disprove but we're delighted to hear that Surrey Police fully intend to get to the truth, one way or the other.
