Dear oh dear, it's getting worse and worse, and the biggest culprit, sadly, is Merton. He knew exactly what he was up to tonight, and that was wrecking the whole show because of some petty personal vendetta. Brandreth isn't my cup of tea but it was obvious that Merton was going to ruin any attempt he made at saying anything amusing. Merton does the same with younger comics, and anyone else who looks as if they'll try to dominate the proceedings. Good performers would relish that and compete, but he just concentrates on interrupting them and ruining the whole flow of the show. It's amazing now to think he once took a break for a year to recharge his batteries, because he's way past that now. |

Winstone in the 80s was an amazingly talented actor - he was superb in the Robin of Sherwood series, for instance.
However in the last few years he has become a parody of himself - playing the part of a fat Cockney thug has become his signature. The Sweeney is bloody awful because of him and the rapper playing Carter as neither are acting, they are just shouting their lines to each other. |

Hmmm. strange choice of host, strange demeanour towards the lady guest on Hislops side and overall a bit poor....and this is fresh on the heels of a 'one trick pony' Brian Blessed, because the showis all about the guest isn't it Brian?.....losing it a bit, the old HIGNFY |
