I don't understand why they couldn't have had a good bash a finding the real parents BEFORE declaring them child abductors in papers and charging them with abduction.
Jews used to get accused of stealing children too apparently, there just old rumors that have been flying about and spread centuries ago to justify doing bad things to them.
I won't say I haven't ever been on the wrong side of gypsies before - I had my mobile phone stolen in McDonald's and a bill run up by some once, but this whole 'gypsies steal your kids' stuff has been done before with other unpopular groups and is such a stupid sterotype, I seen someone say on the internet last week "I remember every time gypsies came to our town children would go missing", really? I think we'd all have heard about it in the news before now if that was the case. It's mostly propaganda and old wife's tales I think. And looking at Maria's mother's other children, it looks like, they and Maria probably are albino and that explains the problems with her eyes, but very few people seemed to want to entertain that idea before the parents were found and seemed adament that she'd been 'abducted'. But this means the couple she was found living with aren't guilty of 'abducting' her after all doesn't it?  |

Yet hedda (who was a gorgeous lovable blue eyed blonde baby) was also just handed over by my mother to live with others for over 3 years when she was very ill and my father too busy traveling for business.
A year in Noo Zeelund (where everyone is mad)when an aunt came and took me off on a plane (no passport / ID) and 2 years in a pub owned by another aunt. Both were dark and had darkish skin. Neither wanted to hand me back (who would ?) but did so..
No doctors or authorities were consulted.
Today ? Everyone would be hauled into the cop shop, questioned , accused, ridiculed in The Sun and so on etc etc.

If your parents were temporarily unable to care for you today you would be whisked into "care" and shunted between families for ever more and your parents would never see you again.
A friend of mine fosters her small cousins. The authorities make sure that normal family life is difficult by daft rules, such as not being allowed to sit on the children's beds, (makes bedtime stories difficult) not being allowed to leave anybody in charge of them who hasn't been approved,(so no sleepovers like all their friends) and she cant even take them to a doctor or cut their hair without telling the social worker first.
They are regularly unhinged by enforced visits with their mother, and they were left in care for almost a year while my friend and her husband were being approved and "trained" to foster.
It is completely bonkers. |
