In The Know The Home Sec (John Reid) - no doubt trying to "sound tough" before launching a leadership bid ! - is planning to close "loop-holes" in the law which allow the Court of Appeal to over-turn convictions.

These "loop-holes" will include "procedural mistakes" such as the police having failed to read people their rights, or searching homes with out of date warrants etc.

Do people not understand that these legal principles are in place for one very good reason - to make the police behave themselves !
