Its the creep, creep, nature of such surveillance than annoys me.
Like you said, Tony, with motoring offences, when first introduced they were never intended to be both Judge and Jury - now "guilty" is the default position and if you want to challenge it you have to do all the work !
We are all marching (voluntarily) towards Animal Farm.
(I wonder if in our new society it will be the pigs that are more equal than others?) |

Seeing as I am the most paranoid person going and one of the most sceptical (or am I?) I actually think that programmes like 'Big Brother' have been nurtured and promoted simply to make us all think that its no big deal being on camera all of the time. The attitude that seems to prevail these days is 'I haven't done anything wrong so why would I mind?'. Just wait though until they get away with bringing in automatic fining for 'crimes' that operate in the same way that speed cameras do. There will be no freedom in this country at all soon and like lambs to the slaughter the masses are welcoming the changes in as if they are the saviours of morality... |

I know that they already know quite abit about us - computer analysis of Clubcard(*) points, for example - but this seems a step too far.
Add this computer's information about us to others in the system (health / DWP / police etc) - and given that governments are paranoid about spying on people (see reaction to Edward Snowden's revelations) plus the security cameras which are everywhere - and we are getting very very close to Big Brother.
(*) Does anyone actually bother with these (apart from Tesco - who use them to analyse what we buy and where)? |
