mixed feelings : watching a case unfold it seems an extraordinary mix of the arrogance of power, extraordinary incompetence and a naive belief they are smarter than the police.
However I've come to believe Rupert is a dangerous and nasty old fool and he despoils everything he touches and that includes entire countries.
He started the race to the gutter with tabloid journalism- Britain's newspapers are a ghastly nasty breed these days picking powerless targets for decimation- including whole groups like immigrants.
Watching how News Corp helped get a total moron elected in Australia has been an education (although it will take only 30,000 votes to unseat the cretin)but the damage will be done and has already started : things like from next year Murdoch will now force those who normally viewed excellent BBC programs via the free to air (and no advertising) ABC must now buy Murdoch's cable TV.
There will be a dozen pay-offs like that.
But it will all end in tears. |

It's sort of hilarious that computers and vital files are hidden in a garage but Rebekah is so unused to doing her own cleaning that she leaves it there long enough for cleaners to find it and hand it over to the police.
Having said that, a friend said today "you must be really enjoying the torment she's going through" and I replied, honestly, that I find it absolutely impossible to feel pleasure at anybody else's misery.
Am I a freak? It really does seem that the vast majority cannot believe me when I say that.
I'm not trying to appear nice. Just as I cannot understand why sympathising with guilty perpetrators automatically means you feel less sadness and compassion for victims, I can be amused and satisfied when those who tried to hurt me suffer indignity, but I can get no pleasure from it.
If asked and I was in a position to stop it, I would. |
