One of the amazing (to me) things is how many very poor people seem able to speak basic English. Of course the news people filter them through but it's still astonishing. Like the Tsunami years ago, one is staggered by the power of Mother Nature, sad for the dead and those who have lost loved ones, helpless (what can I do to help?)...

I was never a friend or supporter to Live Aid and Band Aid; I'm a big fan of the established charities involved in helping those in the Philippines - give give give.

Totally agree. If this helps, please use this link:
uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/...serActivityId=386986

Virgin Money Giving is a not-for-profit online donation website. But do use other methods of giving if you prefer. But please consider helping if you can.

Meant to read please consider giving... Also, I should mention that by using this method, you can "Gift Aid" your donation easily, meaning the charity receive your tax back.

In The Know When this story first broke, news announcements said there could be 10,000 dead.

They are still saying that. They obviously don't have a clue really.
The initial figure is just picked out of thin air.
In The Know Quite astonishing scenes.

Thank God that we live somewhere that tends not to have that kind of weather / natural phenomenon
