... EXCEPT ....

... more people in work than EVER before

... fewer dolers (as thousands "find" jobs)

... less drain on resources (meaning they can go where really needed

and there is my point exampled..oranges and apples solution. The real 'drain on resources is the current form of capitalism that privatises it's profits and socialises it's losses. And the lack of will to pursue tax avoiders (Google, Facebook, Vodafone etc) who rip off far more than welfare cheats.

the real problem which no gawd awful politician welded to the past (where they're hopeless ideas never worked either)is that in 20 years robots will perform most manufacturing..just look at today's car factories where one worker now does the job of 100.

In Japan wealthy retirees are already using primitive robots to pick them up when they fall over.
In 20 years there will be no chamber maids in hotels- beds will automatically make themselves and rooms clean themselves. 2 people in a command room will oversee the lot.

Tell the DWP that, if we don't use the internet to look for work, we get sanctioned as it's in our agreement they cannot be broke.

Apply for 8 jobs a day on direct gov indeed, write to 8 companies a week.

I sent hundreds of CV's in the last 2 years out to companies, no one get's back to you even when, I been told numerous times my CV is excellent.

My Job Centre gives sanctions to anyone even not using the pathetic UJ site, which is mandatory.

Mr Reason If you think the internet is the way to get a job, then that's where a lazy perception of the modern world lies......you can't get a decent job by daily sitting on your bum surfing, you try something PROACTIVE, like writing letters that are nowadays not the norm, it makes you stand out ans shows you have made an effort.....or you visit an employer by making face to face enquiries (smaller businesses).....

I'm getting tired of this inactive and passive reliance on the internet for communications......it is anti communication when used for job searching, just like e-mail.........for goodness sake show them you are human

Do you really think an online form is the way to go for a job? My business doesn't use online recruitment, not too many serious companies do

Get real....a backbench MP telling anecdotal tales of scrambles at the 'bin ends' section of a Tesco..........its a non story

MP's can speak without evidence in the house of commons, MP's don't always get it right and i very much doubt she has seen this with her own eyes, she will be passing on third hand information from elsewhere

Why Tesco? The leading multimillion pound generating supermarket business always seems to be the focus of stories about people not making ends meet......if they are so hard up, and I know a few people who are struggling, they don't shop at Tesco....they go to Iceland, shop at Lidl or use local markets.........I suspect the validity of the story is not proveable, and it doesn't sound plausible

Its a story based on political bias by the Independent and Mirror using emotive language like Vile, Callous, Nasty etc.......all the buzz words to set the Government haters alight.......guess what, you might shout loudly, but some of us like this Government and we are not all earning £'s hand over fist.......

All this nonsense talk about poverty in the 2010's is laughable, its a product of the modern age. Propoer balls out pverty does exist, but the modern use of the phrase is heavily skewed, no MASSIVELY SKEWED to encompass the money people have for essentials minus their other spending.

What I'm getting at, is that in a proper budget of income vs outgoings, eating out, buying shop coffee, drinking alcohol and smoking fags, paying for mobile phones and TV subscriptions are not essentials.....they are just modern 'wants'. A budget usually means there is very little left over, but I'd very much like to see some peoples finances before they claim povery, because I am damn sure that a good proportion of this talk of Poverty is absolutely nothing like the hardships undetaken by my grandparents.........Poverty has a definition in the dictionary and yet the modern UK agencies seem to define it in their very own made up way to support their views and politics.............and that, to me, isn't helping anyone......

In some area's a Tesco supermarket is all there is or expensive corner shops.
