JK2006 Good point Hedda! re Protected species; perhaps that only applies to giant skates or certain types? I do love Raie au Beurre Noir and now have a craving for it.
hedda just one causes enough trouble.
Mr Reason You can still get a Skate n chip in chippys in Grimsby, they'll even batter your own for small fee if you happen to have been paid in skate wings (honest, I'm not making this up.....)
JK2006 The One Show has just told me the SKATE has two penises!

Sadly, it's now an endangered species - I say "sadly" because it's one of my favourite fishes to eat... Raie au Beurre Noir (or skate in black butter sauce, served with capers).
