JK2006 For football fans...

Imagine the biggest party in the world. Forget Christmas or New Year; just think of the Champions League being hosted in Great Britain and the final at Wembley Stadium is between Manchester United who have beaten the top Brazilian side and Bayern Munich, arguably the hottest team in the world (with, amongst others, the wonderful but ugliest footballer Frank Ribery).

Change that: make it Chelsea - a London side.

Well that's what it was like on Saturday 21st December and I was lucky enough to have a VIP ticket to their FIFA World Club Final between, expected, Bayern Munich and, surprise, Raja representing Morocco, the host country.

The drive from my hotel to the stadium in Marrakech usually takes ten minutes. On that day it took two hours, from 2pm to 4pm.

It seemed the whole of Morocco was lining the route. Certainly the King, his brother and his son attended.

Spectacular goodwill, noise, smiles, green and white outfits (I too was in Raja -Casablanca colours; see the PHOTOS). Brand new stadium (it opened in 2011 - I watched it get built over the previous 5 years). Massive crowd. The runner up game for third place was won by the top Brazilian team that Raja beat in the semis, who conquered the Chinese team - that game was at 4.30; I watched Ronaldhino score a penalty.

The game proper was at 7.30. It was dark by then but the floodlights were at full blast. Sadly, as expected, the better team won - (Bayern 2-0) but a great time was had by all and the party went on until morning.
