Didn't you?
Did you not notice the Police Federation demonstration outside the Tory Party conference?
Why? Because the Coalition has demanded value for money / and changes to the way the police work (appx 20% cuts)
Thats why they wanted to "snare" someone (Plebgate) and why they have been running a "crime will rocket after police cuts" campaign.
Naturally, the loonies are doing their best to capitalise on this hysteria !

The Tory-led Government's 20 per cent cuts to policing go too far too fast and are already having a damaging impact on police forces across the country.
Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary has estimated that these front-loaded cuts will lead to the loss of over 16,000 police officers over the next 4 years.
Labour is committed to prioritising policing, keeping Bobbies on the beat and protecting the public.
Sign our petition to send a message to the Tories and Lib Dems in Westminster that these reckless cuts are putting the safety of our communities at risk.

Stephen Downing, anyone ?
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-derbyshire-25740883
A retired police officer has reported Derbyshire police to the Home Office over claims they withheld evidence in a 1973 murder case.
Bakewell man Stephen Downing was convicted in 1974 for killing Wendy Sewell but that was overturned in 2002.
Chris Clark said he has uncovered a crucial pathology report showing she was strangled, which was never told to the jury.
The Home Office said it would send any new criminal evidence to the police.
Evidence of police misconduct would be referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission, the Home Office added. |
